This NJ summit was given its name, around 1888, when Charles St. John and his family build the High Point Inn.  High Point State Park was created in 1923, and today the obelisk stone monument marks the summit.

High Point is located approximately 4 miles SSE of Port Jervis N.Y. in High Point State Park.  The park is open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.  From Memorial Day to labor Day there is a daily parking fee ($5 on weekdays, $7 on weekends).
